Caring Your Watch

A watch is a high precision instrument with many parts working together carefully. Although after time your watch needs to be serviced, there are some measurements which you can take yourself.

General recommendations when using your watch:

  • Avoid magnetic field, like refrigerator, mobile phones.
  • Avoid all shocks, even thermal.
  • Avoid extreme temperature above 60°C or 140°F below 0°C or 32°F
  • Avoid extreme temperature changes.
  • Avoid changing dates between 08.00 pm and 4.00 am.
  • Avoid direct contact with solvents, detergents, perfumes, cosmetic products etc., since they may damage the bracelet, the case or the gaskets.
  • Avoid operating chronograph pushers under water in order to prevent water entering the mechanism.*
*this rule does not apply for some watch models. Please check your watch manual.
  • Always rinse your watch afterwards in warm water after bathing in the sea.

Specific recommendation for watches with leather straps:

All type of leather straps will deteriorate over time. However avoid all contacts with water. Contact with water will accelerate the deterioration process of your leather strap.

Specific recommendation when using quartz watches:

Avoid leaving a flat battery in your watch. A flat battery can start leaking, damaging your movement as a result. Check your watch regularly if it’s running and in case your watch is stopped or the EOL system is activated then please contact our service department as soon as possible through our contact page.

Specific recommendations when using mechanical watches:

  • When a mechanical automatic watch is not worn for a certain amount of time, its power reserve (42 – 48 hours depending on the model) is exhausted and the watch stops. To restart it, unscrew the crown if necessary (depending on the model) and wind the movement manually by turning the crown 30- 40 times. This will give it a sufficient power reserve to function normally.
  • Wear your mechanical watch regularly to ensure that the lubricating oil in the movement remains fluid.
  • A mechanical manual-winding watch has to be wound every day, winding is complete whenyou feel the crown resist. Please do not force the crown of a manual-winding watch to avoid damaging the movement of your watch.

Cleaning your watch

  • Make sure that the crown of your watch is closed. If your watch have a screw-in crown, please make sure that the crown is fully screwed in.
  • Use a soft brush to clean your watch and afterwards use a soft cloth to dry your watch.
  • Avoid contact with chemical products, like solvents or cosmetics.
